Construction Law Firm Scholefield Associates to Offer
Contract Law Class to Apprentices at No Charge
SAN DIEGO, Calif., Sept. 19, San Diego based construction
law firm, Scholefield Associates, P.C. announced that
they are offering a construction law and contract law
class to local building-trade apprenticeship programs.
This class is being offered free of charge to any qualified
building-trades training program in the San Diego area.
The class will provide the contractor-to-be with valuable
insight into the legal and business side of their trade.
“About three years ago we started providing a
contract law class at the San Diego Electrical Training
Center, which is an International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers (IBEW) apprenticeship program. The initial class
was so well received that we have been asked to return
annually,” said Pam Scholefield, the firm’s
lead attorney and class instructor. “Because of
the positive response by the electrical apprenticeship
program, we have decided to offer the construction law
and contract law class to other construction trades.”
The class, which typically consists of one or two classroom
sessions, each about 1.5-2 hours long, can be tailored
for each training program. According to Scholefield,
most problems arise from confusing legal terms found
in construction contracts, or a misunderstanding of
California laws that affect the contractor. “Our
goal is to give the entry level contractor the basic
tools to understand the contracts and construction law
aspect of their chosen profession,” says Scholefield.
Scholefield Associates is providing their legal expertise
at no cost to the students as a way to give back to
the construction community in a positive and beneficial
way. Contact Bryan Weaver (619-544-0086 xt 105) to find
out how to schedule this class into your training program.
Ms. Scholefield is also available to trade groups for
speaking engagements.
